Last month, Samsung announced that it will offer four years of software support to multiple Galaxy devices. The chaebol has been giving extra attention to its software game ever since it launched its OneUI software. Any Galaxy smartphone that has been released since 2019 is a part of this new software support. Samsung has previously promised three major software updates to these same devices.

Samsung Galaxy smartphones four years software support explained!
As you might have guessed already, Samsung is offering two or three major updates depending on your smartphone or tablet model. According to new information from Samsung itself, the company plans to offer monthly security patches to its high-end smartphone and enterprise devices. For mid-range and older flagships, Samsung will offer quarterly updates. As we’ll move closer to the end of term, the company will push updates in lesser frequency. This means that we’re looking at biannually security patches i.e. two updates in a year.

The fact that Samsung is still offering two updates in a year at the fourth term is pretty good. It’s indeed better than having zero software updates at all. Furthermore, most Android brands are still not promising anything like this. It would be interesting to see whether Samsung manages to keep up with its new promise. Galaxy devices launched in 2017 and 2018 are already a part of biannual security patches. Here’s the list of these devices.

All these devices date back to either 2017 or 2018. With that said, Samsung will keep on adding more devices to the list in the coming months.
Samsung aggressively pushing One UI 3.1 software
The South Korean giant is already pushing its latest One UI 3.1 software in an aggressive fashion. The company has already covered flagship devices and is now focussing on mid-rangers and budget offerings. Recently, Samsung rolled out the update to Galaxy M31 in the Indian market.
