iQOO Neo 5, an affordable gaming phone, goes official with Snapdragon 870 and $385 price tag

Vivo launched the iQOO sub-brand some years ago as its gaming brand to compete with the likes of Red Magic, BlackShark and etc. However, in counterpart to its main competitors, iQOO offers devices that are quite affordable and also have a more conventional design. Last year, Vivo kicked the iQOO Neo series as a family of cost-effective gaming phones, now the iQOO Neo 3 is getting a sequel in the form of iQOO Neo 5. After appearing in a multitude of leaks, the handset is finally official. It does pack an impressive set of specifications such as fast-charging, 120Hz refresh rate, and jaw-dropping 1000Hz touch-sampling rate.

iQOO Neo 5 specifications

Under the hood, the iQOO Neo 5 packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. For those who are still unaware, this chipset is a following for the last year’s Snapdragon 865/865+ family and brings a performance increase but still is based on the 7nm+ process. This chipset seems to be Qualcomm’s way to clean up Snapdragon 865/865+ stocks amidst the whole crisis in the semiconductor industry. It gives companies a good option to push cost-effective flagships. The iQOO Neo 5 is the latest addition to the “cost-effective-flagship” segment, however, it is beyond other devices in this segment when it comes to gaming performance. The 1000Hz touch sampling rate will certainly be amazing for gaming input. The chipset is paired with 8 or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of Internal UFS 3.1 storage.

Moving around to the back, we have a triple-camera setup sitting on a squareish camera cutout. It comprises a 48MP f/1.8 main, a 13MP ultrawide, and two 2MP modules perhaps for depth and macro shots.
