Realme is gearing up to launch the Realme GT Neo 5G smartphone in China on March 31 st. The device’s arrival is quite surprising since Realme unveiled the standard Realme GT at the beginning of March. While the standard is a Snapdragon 888 flagship, the Realme GT Neo will fall in the cost-effective-flagship segment. While there is still no confirmation about Realme GT availability outside of China, the Realme GT Neo seems to be confirmed in India at least.
The Realme GT Neo 5G has just acquired India’s BIS certification and was also spotted on the IMEI database. Unfortunately, none of these certifications reveal the device’s specs. However, they serve to showcase Neo’s model number. The very same device already passed by GeekBench benchmark and thanks to it we know what to expect in the performance department.
Realme GT Neo with Dimensity 1200 SoC will also reach the Indian market
The Realme GT Neo appearance in the IMEI database certification was firstly spotted by Mukul Sharma. The device is listed on the IMEI database with model number RMX3031. Moreover, the Realme GT Neo is certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). It does imply that the phone may launch in India very soon. According to the above-mentioned GeekBench listing, the Realme GT Neo boasts the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. For those unaware, this is MediaTek’s high-end offering for the first half of 2021. The chipset brings Cortex-A78 cores and is based on a 6nm process. The phone will be paired with 6GB of RAM, but we assume that there will a higher version with 8GB of RAM.
Gizchina News of the week
The phone scored 975 points in the single-core test and 3,340 points in the multi-core department. This is excellent proof of how powerful the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 is. On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 11 straight out of the box. We assume that Realme UI 2.0 will be running on top. The GT Neo will feature a 6.55-inch display and as usual, it will have a top-left aligned punch hole. Other details are still unknown, but we expect the Neo to pack a triple-camera setup, a huge battery with 65W fast-charging.
For comparison, the Realme GT packs a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It boasts the Snapdragon 888 SoC with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of Internal Storage. It has a triple-camera setup led by a 64MP primary shooter. The phone draws power from a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast-charging support. The Neo may have a similar battery capacity and camera setup. We’ll have to wait a few more days to discover.
