Xiaomi will be hosting a big event on March 29 where it will reveal the highly-anticipated Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra. These devices will complete the Mi 11 family that has been quite small with just the Mi 11 so far. There is even a new Mi 11 Lite variant coming at that event. Rumors have been spreading about the return of the Mi MIX series at the conference, and now, the company finally has spoken. The iconic MIX series is making its comeback on March 29. More than just a bezel-less smartphone, we expect the new phone to come as a foldable handset. The teaser was accompanied by the following text:
“IāM COMING BACKā Xiaomi MIX, after two years, has returned strongly! With endless technical strength, we can live up to the expectations of hundreds of millions of users. At 19:30 on March 29th, we will have a chat about Mi MIX.”
There is a specific part of the text that makes us believe that the new smartphone is, in fact, Xiaomi’s new foldable handset. The company says “we will have a chat”. Apparently, Xiaomi will offer a sneak peek at what’s to come from itself with its Mi Mix lineup. Recently, leaks have been suggesting that the MIX is Xiaomi’s long-rumored folding smartphone.
Recently a report gave it the name “Mi Mix 4 Pro Max”. It makes perfect sense for Xiaomi to bring back its MIX lineup in the form of a foldable phone. After all, the Mi MIX never was about bezel-less smartphones, but about innovative design and concepts.
Gizchina News of the week
The original Mix pushed the trend for bezel-less screens forward. Nowadays, we can’t even consider it a bezel-less smartphone anymore, but it started a trend moving the camera to the bottom chin in order to create an illusion of a bezel-free display. The device also was the first smartphone to break away from the standard at the time 16:9 aspect. The phone had a 6.4-inch 17:9 LCD panel with minimal bezels. It opened the doors for phones with tall and minimal displays.
The Mi Mix 2 was an incremental upgrade with a similar design. The last device, the Mi MIX 3 came up with a very innovative sliding design. With more companies proving their abilities to produce “bezel-free” smartphones Xiaomi had to implement new technology to ensure that the Mi MIX 3 would withstand as bezel-less smartphones. At that time, users weren’t very happy with the notches and Xiaomi decided to innovate with a sliding design. The Mi MIX 3 even got a 5G variant, and then, Xiaomi decided to put the series on a hiatus.
Now, the MIX series is finally returning with style. What are your expectations for it? Feel free to let your comment below.
