Not many months have passed since the introduction of the Oppo Reno5 family in China. In fact, the lineup of smartphones is getting bigger many months with recent releases such as the Oppo Reno5 F. The company is also expanding the availability by bringing some of these devices to other markets with different names. The Reno5 series expansion clearly isn’t finished, but here is Oppo preparing terrain for the Oppo Reno6 series.
It’s not a big surprise to see the first signs of an Oppo Reno6 smartphone around the web. We’ve been used in having at least two generations of Reno smartphones every year. In the end of 2019, Oppo introduced the Oppo Reno3 series, and a couple of months later brought the Oppo Reno4 series. Now, we’re about to say this again with a possible release of the Oppo Reno6 series very soon.
Oppo PEPM00 is the Oppo Reno6 after all
Multiple leaks have revealed that Oppo has a PEPM00 smartphone in the works. A screenshot suggests that this smartphone will reach the market as the Oppo Reno6. This particular smartphone already passed by 3C certification with 65W fast-charging support. Considering this charging tech, we can assume that we’ll have a dual-cell battery with around 4,500mAh of capacity. This handset will also pack a 90Hz refresh rate, and we assume that it’s another Oppo smartphone with an AMOLED display and in-display fingerprint scanner.
Gizchina News of the week
Under the hood, Oppo will equip its smartphone with the MediaTek MT6893 platform. For those unaware, this is the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip. This is the Taiwanese firm’s flagship chipset bringing 1x Cortex-A78 core clocked at 3GHz, 3x Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6GHz, and 4x power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores operating at 2GHz. This chip also has a very capable Mali-G77 MC9 GPU optimized by HyperThread 3.0 engine. Besides this flagship-grade chipset, the Oppo Reno6 will also come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of Variant. Of course, we’re expecting more variants to join this “basic” model. Other specifications suggest Android 11 OS straight out of the box. This also confirms ColorOS 11.1, or possibly a new incremental update for Oppo’s skin.
The Oppo Reno4 series was released in China first and remained exclusive for a long time. One month later, the company unveiled the Oppo Reno4 series with 4G chips. So, we expect the same to happen with the Oppo Reno6 series. While we’re not sure if it will get a 4G-exclusive variant this time, we’re sure it will reach the Chinese market first. After all, global markets have just received the Oppo Reno5 series through Oppo Find X3 series makeup.
