ZTE held a big online event in China earlier today where it unveiled a bunch of new 5G smartphones. The new handset under the ZTE S30 series comes to offer users plenty of opportunities to join the 5G segment. Besides the new smartphones, the brand also announced the ZTE Watch GT smartwatch and a new pair of TWS earbuds that carry the ZTE LiveBuds SE moniker. It’s not a big surprise to see ZTE bringing new devices for this competitive segment. After all, the wearables segment gained more importance last year while the smartphone segment suffered in the first months of the pandemic. Without further ado, let’s see what makes the ZTE Watch GT and Live Buds SE stand against the competition
ZTE Watch GT
The new ZTE Watch GT comes to please those who want a gorgeous premium smartwatch. It packs a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a crispy look. It also has a lightweight aluminum alloy build that makes it scale just 30 grams. We have a round dial here and plenty of colored stripes that will please the more traditional user to the ones that love fancy colorways. Users can pick black, gray, orange, yellow, and blue colorways. Hopefully, more colors will be added in the future.
The wearable comes with really useful features as a blood oxygen reader, sleep, and stress monitor. One of the great features is a built-in GPS that will reduce the need for a smartphone while on the go. It also comes with 5ATM waterproofing so you can even use it to monitor your swimming activities, which interestingly, is part of one of ZTE Watch GT 16 sports modes. The company adds a special touch to the football mode which can track the positions you’re playing in real-time on the field.
Gizchina News of the week
As usual in smartwatches, this wearable supports notification management, remote capture, and music controls. ZTE also has plenty of watch faces to match your style. The company promises 15 days of battery life with normal use and up to 23 days of endurance while using the power-saving mode.
ZTE Live Buds SE
It’s funny how many companies are sticking with the “SE” moniker even when there’s no apparent reason for it. Maybe “Special Edition”? Well, knowing the meaning, is not too important in the end.
As far as specs are concerned, the LiveBuds SE has an in-ear design and long stems. They come in black and white colorways and feature an oval charging case. The lightweight design is complemented by an IPX4 rating which will protect them against light rain and sweat.
The company is bringing call noise reduction and promises up to seven days of battery while on normal usage.
Pricing and Availability
The new smartwatch will retail for CNY 599 ($90) in China. The LiveBuds SE on the other hand will cost CNY 149 ($23). There is no word on a global release. However, ZTE tends to bring most of its products to global markets after its release in China. We assume that this will be the case for the ZTE Watch GT, Live Buds, and the whole ZTE S30 series.
