Samsung appears to have a plethora of Galaxy products under its sleeves. The chaebol is all set to unveil three new laptops at its coming Galaxy Unpacked event. The brand is also expected to launch the Galaxy M42 mid-range smartphone. Apart from the new Galaxy Book laptops, the next big thing has to be the next iteration of foldable devices. We’re talking about the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
The third iteration of the original Galaxy Fold will see its unveiling somewhere in the second half of the year, possibly in August. We’ve been hearing about the foldable device for quite some time now. According to new development, we now have some crucial pieces of information surrounding the smartphone.

It is about 13g lighter than Z Fold2.— Ice universe (@UniverseIce) April 20, 2021
Samsung’s Exynos chipset on flagship devices has always been a controversial topic with fans generally not happy with the decision. With Exynos 2100 SoC, Samsung decided to address all the issues such as overheating and throttling. Naturally, we might be hoping to see the improved chipset on Galaxy Z Fold 3. According to a new leak, it looks like Samsung is not going to incorporate an Exynos chipset into its next-gen foldable device.
Gizchina News of the week
This leak is coming from the notable Ice Universe (@UniverseIce). According to him, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will feature the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. The new decision would be a happy welcome as the chipset is still ahead of the company’s in-house offering.
Considering this new development, it looks like we might not see an Exynos chipset with AMD Mobile Radeon graphics. Apart from this, we’re also looking at a thinner and lighter profile. To put things into perspective, Galaxy Z Fold 3 is said to be 13 grams lighter than the predecessor. The weight is also brought down to 269 grams from 282 grams in the predecessor.
A smaller battery is in tow as well!
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has also made its way to 3C for certification. The new listing confirms very crucial information related to the battery. It looks like the new foldable device will indeed feature a dual-battery system. One of these batteries is going to bear EB-BF926ABY model number with a rated capacity of 2,060mAh. The second battery, on the other hand, will have a rated capacity of 2,215mAh bearing a model number EB-BF927ABY.
Both these two batteries will provide a combined capacity of 4,275mAh meaning the company could market it as 4,400mAh. If that’s the case, then we’re looking at a smaller battery capacity when compared to the predecessor.
