Oppo is one of the companies behind the quick expansion of 5G in the smartphone market. The brand already brought many mid-range smartphones with support for the fifth-gen network and this year, is introducing the new network standard to the low-end segment. The brand recently unveiled the Oppo A74 5G as one of its most cost-effective smartphones featuring 5G support. The device is quite decent with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC, an FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, and a huge 5,000mAh battery. Now, it is coming to the Indian market as one of the cheapest 5G smartphones.
Oppo A74 5G specifications
The Oppo A74 5G is very close in design to another device that reached the Indian market recently, the Oppo A54. The major difference is the main camera module on the back and, obviously, the hardware. The smartphone packs a 6.48-inch FHD+ LCD with a punch-hole cutout in the top-left serving as a home for the 8MP selfie camera. This panel offers 2,400 x 1,080 pixels of resolution which has a density of 405PPI. Further, it offers a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. It’s good to see a budget 5G smartphone with a high refresh rate, the panel is quite bright with 480 nits of peak brightness. Last but not least, it’s quite bezeless with a 90.5% screen-to-body ratio.
The phone packs a triple-camera setup on the hear that sits inside of a rectangular island. It comprises a 48MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro camera. The two additional sensors are far from being really useful, but at least, we have a very capable main camera that will be enhanced through ColorOS 11.1 software. The phone features Oppo branding on the opposite edge of the back panel. The fingerprint scanner doubles as a power button on the right side. The volume rocker sits on the left.
Over on the back, it features a large rectangular camera module in the top left corner that houses three camera sensors and a flash. The phone features OPPO branding on the opposite edge of the back panel, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the right edge, and a volume rocker on the left edge. The USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack and speaker grille can be found on the bottom edge.
Snapdragon 480 SoC – A powerful offering in the low-tier segment
Under the hood, the phone boasts Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G chipset. For those unaware, this is an Octa-Core chip featuring two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. It also comes with six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. For graphics-intensive tasks, the chipset packs an Adreno 619 GPU. The chip also features the Snapdragon X51 modem-RF system for 5G connectivity. Oppo has paired the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 on the handset with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Internal Storage. This can be expanded via a microSD card.
As abovementioned, the device runs Android 11 with ColorOS 11.1 on top. There is a 5,000mAh battery keeping the lights on with 18W fast-charging support.
Pricing and Availability
