Earlier today, Realme unveiled its Realme 8 5G variant set to conquer markets where the new network is expanding. The new device has some changes in comparison to its 5G counterpart. The main changes include a change from AMOLED to an LCD, but something that allowed Realme to go to a 90Hz refresh rate from the 60Hz of the 4G model. The brand also unveiled it with a Dimensity 700 which is technically less powerful than the Helio G95 on the 4G variant, but apart from 5G, it’s much more efficient due to the 7nm process versus 12nm on Realme 8 5G. Along with the announcement, Realme stated that users can expect a Realme 8 Pro 5G.
Earlier this week, a mysterious device with RMX3161 appeared on GeekBench with Snapdragon 750G SoC. When it appeared we started to speculate that this device could launch as Realme 8 Pro 5G. Now that Realme confirmed this device’s existence, we have more reasons to believe that the Realme 8 Pro 5G is, in fact, the RMX3161. Today, this device has given another important step before its release. It cleared 3C certification China which reveals some additional tidbits about the device.
Gizchina News of the week
Alongside the new RMX3161, 3C also revealed another mysterious device bearing the RMX3142 model number. The latter seems to be placed below the former since it packs 30W fast-charging support. The RMX3161, or Realme 8 Pro 5G if you prefer passed by 3C certification with 65W fast-charging. This is in line with last year’s Realme 7 Pro and is better than this year’s Realme 8 Pro. The company has downgraded the fast charging capabilities of the Realme 8 Pro to 50W. In my humble opinion, Realme made big sacrifices to bring the 108MP camera to its mid-range smartphone.
Apart from the fast-charging technologies on each device, the 3C certification does not reveal much. At this point, it’s really hard to state anything regarding the RMX3142, but 30W fast-charging suggests that it’s a mid-range smartphone. When it comes to the RMX3161 we know some of its specifications thanks to the GeekBench Benchmark listing.
The RMX3161 passed by GeekBench 5.1 scoring 657 points in the single-core tests and 1,940 on the multi-core department. The device has the Snapdragon 750G, 8GB of RAM, And Andreno 619 GPU. The last detail is rather obvious – It runs Android 11 like all Realme devices released recently.
If this device is the Realme 8 Pro 5G, the time will confirm. Thankfully, as Realme started today, this smartphone exists and we will not need to wait much time for seeing it.
