Samsung is currently working on its next-generation foldable smartphone. As usual, we expect this device to be an upgrade of the previous generation, at least in some aspects. However, it appears that the rear camera will not be one of these aspects. A recent leak reveals some information regarding the rear camera of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. According to the leak, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will still come with a 12MP rear camera like the previous generation. However, there will be a slight upgrade to the front camera specifications.
The report further claims that the front external shooter of this device will upgrade to a 16MP camera. It will use a Sony IMX298 sensor with a pixel size of 1.12 microns. However, the front camera of the internal side of the screen will have a 10MP Sony IMX374 sensor with a pixel size of 1.22 microns.
Gizchina News of the week
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 currently on sale has a triple rear camera setup. It has an ultra-wide-angle sensor with F2.2 aperture while the main camera has F1.8 aperture. It supports OIS anti-shake and PDAF focusing. Furthermore, there is also a telephoto lens with an aperture of F2.4. In addition, both the internal and external screens of the mobile phone have a 10MP sensor. Thus, the upgrade will only be in the pixel size of the external front camera. This means that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have basically the same camera specification.
Presently, most of the current Android phones use 48MP or even 108MP main cameras. This means that the camera specifications of Samsung’s new foldable smartphone will not satisfy consumers. However, like most foldable smartphones, it will be expensive. Using the best of every hardware will only further increase the price of this device. Nevertheless, this is only an unconfirmed leak thus there could still be some hope.
According to previous reports, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will come with a 2215 mAh + 2060 mAh dual battery. The battery will be provided by Samsung SDI. Although this reduces the total capacity of the smartphone, it will be thinner and lighter. In addition, the phone will use the latest UTG ultra-thin glass panel, will support the S Pen stylus, and will be equipped with an LTPO screen. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2 mobile phones are expected to arrive in July 2021. Both smartphones will also probably use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor.
