Samsung revolutionized its smartphone business in 2019 with the arrival of the Galaxy A and M series. The company further consolidated these lineups last year and even added a third Galaxy F-series of smartphones. Now, the company is making one step further by adding 5G to many of its budget-friendly smartphones. Recently, the brand unveiled the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72 5G. It is gearing to launch more affordable smartphones in the form of a Galaxy M42 5G and Galaxy A22 5G. The former has appeared on the Google Play Console listing today, and apparently, it is a rebranded Galaxy A42 5G.

Gizchina News of the week
Worth noting that the Google Play Console listing isn’t very revealing. However, since we already know that this device is a rebranded Galaxy A42 5G we can easily speculate the rest of its specifications. Moving around to the back, it packs a 48MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultrawide snapper, a 5MP macro, and a 5MP depth module. The phone also runs with a 5,000mAh battery that supports up to 15W charging. Other specs include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GNSS, FM Radio, NFC, USB-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
We assume that this handset will run Android 11-based One UI 3.1 straight out of the box. After all, most Samsung launches are coming with this software nowadays. The Galaxy M42 5G is expected to hit a price tag between INR 20,000($270) and INR 25,000($335) in India. For now, there is no official word on the Galaxy M42 5G release. However, it will likely happen in the next few weeks.
As we mentioned before, the company is also preparing a device dubbed Galaxy A22 5G. This will be the cheapest 5G smartphone of the Galaxy A-series thanks to the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset. Reports suggest its launch for July, but the crescent wave of leaks can bring it a little ahead.
