The current flagship Galaxy S21 family has become a kind of work on mistakes regarding their predecessors of the Galaxy S20 series. At the same time, as a study by Counterpoint Research has shown, the manufacturer managed not only to improve the devices, but also to significantly reduce their cost. Based on the list of components, the top-end Galaxy S21 Ultra with 128GB of storage costs $533 to the manufacturer, which is 7% cheaper compared to the Galaxy S20 Ultra. And all this despite a noticeable increase in performance and the transition to a much more expensive Snapdragon 888 SoC in comparison with the Exynos 990.
The company managed to save money by reducing the number of millimeter-wave antenna modules from three to two; as well as removing the charging unit and headphones from the standard delivery box. Due to this and the additional removal of ToF cameras; the prime cost of the younger S21 and S21 + models compared to their predecessors turned out to be 12-13% lower.
Samsung‘s success is borne out by the numbers. Shipments of the Galaxy S21 series in the first month of sales increased 22% over the Galaxy S20 series. Separately, it is worth mentioning that the retail price of the devices, in addition to all components; also includes the costs of assembly, packaging, shipping, advertising and employee compensation.

Galaxy S21 FE will join the S21 family soon
Samsung is preparing a few more big announcements this year, one of which will be the Galaxy S21 FE. According to the latest information, the smartphone will receive the Galaxy S21 design with a triple main camera in a block that flows into the side frame and a large display with a hole in the center. The difference against the background of the Galaxy S21 (standard version) will be a display increased to 6.4″ with a corresponding proportional increase in size. GalaxyClub.nl also published information about the battery of the promising newcomer. The battery EB-BG990ABY for the SM- The G990 (Galaxy S21 FE) will have an actual capacity of 4500mAh; which is the same as the Galaxy S20 FE but larger than the Galaxy S21 (4000mAh).
Does this mean that the autonomy of the Fan Edition will be higher? Everything will depend on the type of panel used and the software for the future device. The 500 mAh battery should easily cover and surpass the difference in size (0.2″); but how will it be in practice, time will tell. The Galaxy S21 FE is also expected to receive the Exynos 2100 or Snapdragon 888 (depending on the region); a simplified configuration of the main cameras and a plastic back. The announcement should take place in August.
