Honor Play 5 is an upcoming mid-range phone. Before the launch, we already have the renders and its key specifications. Honor has to step up and launch some quality phones so they can stay relevant. According to the leaked key specifications, the mid-range phone focuses on display and performance. Let’s check the device in detail below.
Honor Play 5 Renders
GSMARENA shared the renders of the smartphone. We have a good look thanks to the renders. The device has a violet color with a gradient touch. It looks great just like previous Honor smartphones. Huawei and its sub-brand used to come out with some of the best-looking smartphones in the past. The Honor Play 5 is said to be 7.46mm thin and has a weight of 179 grams.
Honor Play 5 is also nice although the front looks old. It has a traditional teardrop notch which I’m not a big fan of. A punch-hole notch makes the device modern compared to a tear-drop notch. However, the rear side looks modern thanks to its bold camera module. Huge camera cutouts are the trend in the smartphone world. But we won’t mind a more elegant camera module.

Key specifications
Digital Chat Station, a popular tipster has shared the key specifications of the unreleased smartphone. According to him, the Honor Play 5 will feature a 6.53″ FHD+ OLED panel. We are not sure if it will have a higher refresh rate or not. But hopefully, it should have. Also, there is no visible fingerprint scanner on the smartphone hence high chances are that we will see an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Moving to the camera department, the smartphone is said to have a quad camera setup. It will consist of a 64MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. Nothing special is in the camera department of the phone. The details of the selfie camera were not revealed. On the performance side, the smartphone will have Dimensity 800U chipset. It is a 5G mid-range chip from MediaTek and it is pretty capable.
Well, at just 179 grams, the device is super light. So where is the sacrifice? Well, it is the battery department. Unfortunately, the Play 5 is having a 3800 mAh battery that is likely to be rated at 4,000mAh. It is not the biggest battery considering it is a mid-range phone.
