Not accidentally, many think that folding screen smartphones are not durable. They think, as the phone consists of two parts, it is easy to damage / bend. Moreover, Samsung and Huawei, that are the pioneers in this field, have delayed their first phones for a few times because of hinge problems. And though at the moment, none of the existing models have such issues, users worry about body wear and mechanical structure strength. In order to understand how durable the Huawei Mate X2 is, a well known YouTubers, JerryRigEverything conducted a violent durability test on the Mate X2.
First of all, the Huawei Mate X2 test was divided into two – for external and internal screens. The test results show that the glass cover of the external screen will be scratched after grinding with a screwdriver having a Mohs hardness of 6. A screwdriver with a Mohs hardness of 7 will make the external screen get deeper scratches.

Secondly, JerryRigEverything tested durability of the Huawei Mate X2, pushing outwards from the middle of the screen. But couldn’t bend it. This may be due to the more stable hinge system.
Special Hinge System On Huawei Mate X2
The hinge system of the Huawei Mate X2 uses a variety of special materials and special manufacturing processes. Say, it used a zirconium-based liquid metal as well as the first introduction of super strong steel material. The latter can prevent impact and does not deform. This material is not inferior to the strength of automobiles. The phone also uses the B-pillar and carbon fiber composite materials, ensuring high strength and durability while ensuring lightness.
