As we move to the second half of 2021, Oppo is gearing up to introduce its Oppo Reno6 series in China. If you recall, the Reno5 series composed of Reno5, Reno5 Pro, and Reno5 Pro made its big debut in December in the company’s homeland. These devices slowly reached other countries with different names. Now, that the Reno5 family’s expansion seems to be done, Oppo is doing the final adjustments to launch its Reno6 Pro and start another series of launches. Last month, the first leaks started to spread out with info regarding the new lineup. Today, the Oppo Reno6 Pro and Reno6 Pro+ have been certified by China’s TENAA. As usual, we have a set of key specifications to look at.
Oppo Reno6 Pro and Reno6 Pro+ specifications
The Oppo Reno6 Pro models are premium smartphones and the specifications certainly do justice to this sentence. Both smartphones, with model numbers PEPM00 and PENM00, respectively, have curved 6.55-inch OLED displays. These panels come with FHD+ resolution and punch-hole cutouts in the left corner. Although TENAA does not explicitly mentions any kind of high refresh rate, we can expect at least 90Hz. After all, this has been standard for the series. Under the hood, the Reno6 Pro brings the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset.
Gizchina News of the week
The Reno6 Pro+ brings Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 SoC. Both chipsets offer basically the same level of performance, but the Dimensity 1200 probably will be more power-efficient due to its 6nm architecture. However, we don’t expect a massive difference in real-life usage.
Both devices come with dual-cell batteries with a total capacity of 4,500mAh (dual 2,250mAh). As usual, Oppo has this kind of implementation to ensure its 65W fast-chargin will not fry the battery. We can expect both smartphones to come with Android 11-based ColorOS 11.1 or even ColorOS 11.2. We expect the handsets to start with 8GB of RAM and go all the way up to 12GB of RAM. Storage-wise, we expect multiple variants that go up to 256GB.
As far as dimensions are concerned, the Oppo Reno6 Pro is listed at 160 x 73.1 x 7.6mm while the Oppo Reno6 Pro+ comes in at 160.8 x 72.5 x 7.99mm. According to rumors, the Oppo Reno6 series will make its debut on May 22. Obviously, this refers to the Chinese launch. The Global variants may come a little bit earlier and the specifications can be different. We also expect a vanilla Oppo Reno6 that can come with either the Dimensity 1100 SoC or even a Snapdragon 780G chip.
