Yesterday, the Taiwanese MediaTek released a new chip dubbed the Dimensity 900. A few China-based first-tier smartphone makers such as OPPO, VIVO and Xiaomi will launch phones powered by this SoC soon. However, it seems VIVO will be the first to come in with a smartphone sporting this new processor. Today, a new VIVO phone packed with it appeared on GeekBench. The model is vivo V2123A. The latter scored 3467 points and 8852 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. The tested mode had an 8GB memory.
MediaTek Dimensity 900 Parameters
The Dimensity 900 uses an octa-core CPU architecture, including 2 Arm Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and 6 Arm Cortex-A55 high-efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz. It also integrates an Arm Mali-G68 MC4 GPU as well as MediaTek’s third-generation APU. This chip supports flagship LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage, and can adapt to 120Hz screen refresh rate.
As for connectivity, the Dimensity 900 integrates a 5G modem and Wi-Fi 6. It supports 5G Sub-6GHz full frequency band and 5G dual carrier aggregation technology, which can achieve up to 120MHz spectrum bandwidth. At the same time, the chip supports SA/NSA networking, 5G dual card dual standby, dual card VoNR services, etc. Combined with the MediaTek 5G UltraSave Electrical technology, it can further reduce the power consumption.
Gizchina News of the week
In terms of imaging, the Dimensity 900 supports MediaTek Imagiq 5.0 image processing technology. It adopts a multi-core ISP equipped with a 4K HDR video recording engine. The latter also combines 3D noise reduction (3DNR) and multi-frame noise reduction (MFNR) technology. It supports up to 108MP four cameras combination.
The APU has the advantages of floating-point accuracy of INT8, INT16 and FP16 operations. This AI processor supports AI white balance, AI autofocus and other shooting functions. The chip-level MediaTek MiraVision image quality engine can intelligently adjust the image quality of the video stream, such as color, brightness, contrast, sharpness, and dynamic range.
Wrapping Up
At the launch event, Dr. Xu Jingquan, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek and General Manager of the Wireless Communication Division, said: ‘The Dimensity 900 brings advanced wireless connectivity, high-definition display and 4K HDR video enhancement functions to the global high-end market. The Dimensity 900 supports 5G and Wi-Fi 6 connections, allowing consumers to enjoy a fast and stable networking experience on terminal devices.’
The first models are expected to hit the market in the second half of the year.
Great midrange chipset. Can't wait for devices with this chipset
