Despite the global pandemic, the smartphone market is still doing quite well. Overall, there may be a year-on-year decrease in sales, however, we can not say that the individual manufacturers are not doing well. According to Xu Qi, vice president of Realme, the monthly sales of Realme’s smartphones in the Chinese market exceeds 1 million units in just a month. According to Xu Qi, the Chinese market is not an easy place to compete. He also said that for the past two years since Realme entered the Chinese smartphone market, there have been many scary moments.
Xu said “Two years ago, the question we faced was: is there a chance for a new player? Can Realme have a place in this fiercely competitive market?”
At the beginning of 2020, the Chinese manufacturer adjusted its product strategy and proposed “Comprehensive 5G”. Since then, all Realme China products have been 5G products. Xu Qi said: “For Realme at the time, it meant giving up part of the market and opening up more possibilities. This was a heart-pounding decision”.
In February this year, the company also announced the 2021 “dual platform + dual flagship” strategy. For mid-to-high-end products, it will use both the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series and the MediaTek Dimensity series dual flagship 5G platforms to create two flagship series. These flagships will focus on performance and imaging respectively.
