According to recent reports, Realme is gearing up to launch two smartphones in India. The smartphones will be released with the popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC and the unannounced Snapdragon 778 SoC. According to the popular tipster Digital Chat Station, the company is gearing up to launch the new handsets on June 18, 2021. However, the tipster has not revealed the name of the mysterious Realme smartphones. More recently, Realme teased the arrival of a new smartphone with the Snapdragon 778G 5G processor and it carries the codenamed Quicksilver.
Perhaps, the tipster Digital Chat Station is referring to the same smartphone the brand has recently teased on Twitter. However, there is no information about the device names of upcoming Realme smartphones. Unfortunately, the leak didn’t reveal much about the specifications and features of the handsets. However, he clearly states that the new devices will go official on June 18 with these two chipsets. Of course, you should digest this with a pinch or two of salt if it is yet to be confirmed by Realme itself. Moreover, with the COVID-19 pandemic that is still around, it’s hard to determine dates.
Realme Quicksilver – The company’s first smartphone with Snapdragon 778G
If the rumors turn out to be the truth, then the new devices will be the first Realme smartphones with the Snapdragon 870 and Snapdragon 778 SoCs. So far, Realme has been using the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 for its cost-effective flagships and the Snapdragon 888 SoC for its Realme GT flagship. The new device powered with the Snapdragon 870 may even be a new variant for the Realme GT series. The Snapdragon 778G-powered smartphone, on the other hand, may come for a premium mid-range segment.
