Realme is running to bring Android 11 for most of its recent smartphones, but we have to say that the company has been in a quite slow pace. For the first months of 2021, we only saw the update reaching a couple of devices in beta form. Now, the stable release is reaching the Realme X3 and Realme X3 SuperZoom. At this rate, it will take a couple of months until this update reaches low-end smartphones. Anyway, the X3 and SuperZoom received the beta last month. So, Realme managed to address all the remaining bugs and made the firmware stable in less than a month. Today, the stable release is reaching the lucky owners of these smartphones.
The new Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 brings a bunch of novelties and visual upgrades for the Realme X3 series users. The new devices get plenty of new color options for theme customizations. Moreover, there is also Realme Share that allows quicker file transfer between smartphones over Wi-Fi, as well as Dual Mode Music Share which serves a similar purpose for audio tracks. Android 11 and Realme UI also have a big focus on security and user privacy. For that reason, Realme is adding some neat changes as an option to hide all applications behind a PIN code. There is also the Invisible Door which feeds empty data to applications that are collecting personal information. Of course, this will not come enabled, users will need to enable it by themselves.
Gizchina News of the week
Unfortunately, the Realme X3 and Realme X3 SuperZoom will be out of the Always On Display party. After all, these handsets come with LCD displays, and thanks to that they’ve got their “cost-effective-flagships” title. While they do offer a high refresh rate, the lack of an AMOLED panel means that AOD would easily drain the battery. The new update is rolling out with a 668MB weight and is currently reaching those who already have a beta installed. Regular users who didn’t get to participate in the testing process should be up for the new software pretty soon. Hopefully, Realme will manage to expand the rollout by the end of this month.
Now, Realme should keep bringing this update to other devices that entered the beta program last month. At this rate, however, we don’t have much hope for smartphones below the mid-range segment.
