The court decided to remove Xiaomi from the US sanctions list

In addition, On the Hong Kong Stock Exchange website, an official statement from Xiaomi appeared; in which it announced that on May 25, the Columbia District Court issued a final decision; where it declared illegal and canceled the decision of the US Department of Defense to include the company on the sanctions list; thereby removing restrictions on the acquisition and ownership of valuable securities of the Chinese company.

Naturally, Xiaomi’s top managers do not hide their glee. The head of Xiaomi Lei Jun and the head of Redmi Liu Weibing left a post on their Weibo pages; where they announced, not without pride, that “we won.”

Recall that on January 14, the US government put Xiaomi on the sanctions list; thereby introducing a ban on American investors from buying and owning the company’s securities. Two weeks later, the Chinese company filed a lawsuit demanding that the decision be reversed. In early May, Xiaomi and the US Department of Defense in a joint statement report that the Chinese company would be removed from the sanctions list.

“The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued a final order vacating the U.S. Department of Defense’s designation of the company as a CCMC,” the smartphone maker said in a filing to the Hong Kong bourse. It said the order took place on Tuesday.

“The company reiterates that it is an open, transparent, publicly traded, independently operated and managed corporation,” Xiaomi chairman Lei Jun said in the statement.

In a seperate news, the Chinese company Xiaomi has officially unveiled a mid-range smartphone Redmi Note 8 2021, using the MediaTek hardware platform and the Android 11 operating system with the MIUI 12.5 proprietary user interface.

Also, the device has a Full HD + screen with a resolution of 2340 × 1080 pixels: panel size is 6.3 inches. Durable Corning Gorilla Glass 5 provides scratch protection.

In addition, the phone runs the Helio G85 processor. The chip contains eight cores with a frequency of up to 2.0 GHz, an ARM Mali-G52 graphics accelerator and a 4G modem. The volume of LPDDR4x RAM is 4 GB.
