The stocks of Sony PlayStation 5 are yet to reach a “normal state”. We’re seeing Sony filling stocks in many countries every month and they don’t last more than a couple of hours. The company is not being able to meet the demand for the new console especially with all the challenges involved in the manufacture of the new console that is suffering a great impact amidst the chipset shortage crisis. Even though the company is preparing a new version of the Sony PlayStation 5, but don’t get your hopes too high. It’s not really a big deal, but a small revision. It’s not the redesign that Sony may have been planning to ensure more consoles on store shelves.
According to a recent report that comes in light of a new Sony product registration, the company is preparing a small revision. Apparently, the new revised PS5 will pack a new Wi-Fi module. It can tweak the peak Wi-Fi antenna to gain for both wireless connectivity bands. Tech and Business analyst Roberto Serrano was the first to spot the registration and posted about it on Twitter. The registration of the new Wi-Fi module will be the console’s first product revision of its life. However, it’s not exactly what PlayStation fans have been expecting to improve the number of units available.

Sony is rumored to redesign the PlayStation 5 to expand the availability
Sony’s Chief Financial Officer, Hiroki Totoki said in an earnings call that Sony is considering a redesign of the PS5 in order to address its now obvious supply shortage problems. Unfortunately, Totoki did not detail up what all are Sony targeting in its redesign. This redesign seemed to be an extensive project that is unprecedented for a console that is less than a year old. This, however, is most certainly not it. According to rumors, Sony may change the architecture of the AMD chip boosting the console to the modern 6 nm. It could even result in a PS5 slim, but that is just mere speculation at this point.
Gamers across the world are raising cries regarding the shortage of the PS5. The console failed to match the huge demand with enough supplies, leaving interested buyers stranded with no ways to get their hands on it. Sony has not yet clarified exactly how it aims to redesign the PS5 so shortly after the launch. Even a redesign will require the company to get its production line under control. Some reports suggest that the PS5 units will still be scarce in 2022.
