As planned, Meizu held a new product launch conference today and uncovered its first smartwatch. The Meizu Watch is going to be a new generation of small-screen flagship smartwatches.
Meizu wants to change the status quo of smartphones’ dominance in our lives. They hope the Meizu Watch will become a revolutionary product.
Meizu Watch Appearance
The Meizu Watch sports a customized AMOLED display. It has a customized Corning Gorilla Glass covering as well as a 326PPI pixel density. The display effect is extremely delicate. Due to the fourth-generation extreme edge full-screen, it can present the best visual effects. The dial is 46mm in size.
The watch supports global gestures. Thus, it does not require physical button operations. Also, you can unlock it with sliding.
There are tons of customized dial faces, including the surreal series, the new era series, the tourist twilight series and other artistic dials.
Our protagonist is available in two colors, black rock and azure, with a fluorine rubber strap.
Meizu Watch Performance
The watch can be charged via a common charging cable. Also, the MEIZU Watch comes with a customized mEngine that supports mCharge. In 45 minutes, it will be fully charged.
In terms of hardware, the Meizu Watch comes with Qualcomm’s strongest new-generation Wear 4100 chip. It uses a 12nm process technology, which brings users a longer-lasting battery life and lower heat generation.
Flyme For Watch
Another interesting feature of this watch the new Flyme For Watch system. This system completely inherits the core capabilities of vanilla Flyme OS.
In order to achieve a smartphone-like experience on the watch, Meizu developed this system based on the Android code. It has carried out 300 optimizations, which can make the smartwatch run stably at 60fps. After system optimization, the performance can be improved by 70%, and the full power usage time has reached 36 hours.
Gizchina News of the week
Compared with other third-party systems, using this system can improve application compatibility and help quickly build an application ecosystem on the watch. Flyme for Watch was first announced at the Meizu Flyme 9 conference on March 2 this year. The system adopts a new design style to facilitate the realization of rich functions on the watch.
Functions
The Meizu Watch can fully interconnect with smartphones, realize message reminders, schedule reminders, realize big data transmission, support remote camera photography, and find phones.
It’s not just a watch, but also a car key. This watch uses a special built-in app to complete some operations of the smart car.
Connectivity
eSIM independent call has become the standard configuration of flagship smartwatches. The Meizu Watch supports independent calls, messages, and independent Internet access. It uses a metal frame with no breakpoints and there is no antenna band barrier.
The Meizu smartwatch supports all-weather health monitoring functions, including: all-weather blood oxygen, heart rate, stress, and sleep monitoring.
Meizu teamed up with Meixin to create a professional health test. It uses high-end ceramic materials that are not prone to allergies, a professional sensor Fresnel lens, and a micro-arc curved surface design that is more suitable for long-term wear. Relying on the built-in blood oxygen sensor, the Meizu watches fully support blood oxygen detection.
The “SOS emergency call” on Meizu phones under unexpected conditions also came to the Meizu Watch. Press the side button 5 times continuously, and the watch will automatically call the emergency contact. And when the heart rate is abnormal, it also supports the active abnormal distress function.
In terms of sports, the Meizu smartwatch supports 10+ active sports recognition without manual adjustment of the mode. At the same time, it prepares a variety of detailed data on specific sports for users to view real-time sports status at any time.
The Meizu Watch costs 1,499 yuan ($235) and will officially go on sale on June 1.
