Developing a mobile game is like a watermelon – nobody knows whether it’s ripe or not until they cut it open. And when it comes to Apple mobile games, it becomes more mysterious. We mean Apple does not release specific information about game sales. And as developers don’t post their revenue statements too, we have no idea whether it’s profitable to develop iPhone games or not. Coronavirus Made The Niche Grow
Of course, the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown in many countries of the globe made many developers earn much more in comparison to the pre-pandemic period. During the lockdown, people were seeking for entertainment on digital platforms. And as in the US and anywhere on the Earth iPhone is very popular, iPhone games became a convenient option. In this sense, the revenue is one of the indicators showing how mobile games grow during this period. Also, it’s a good indicator to evaluate this market and understand whether it’s profitable to develop games for Apple mobile products.
“The widespread lockdowns compelled most people to seek entertainment on digital platforms, and the high smartphone penetrations made mobile gaming a convenient option. The revenue is a possible indicator the games have built on the positive impact resulting from the pandemic.”
