The first smartphone that carries an under-screen camera was launched by ZTE. But it’s logical that once this technology matures, major smartphone makers will adopt it and ZTE will be overshadowed. Samsung is one of those companies that is rumored to use this technology in its smartphones soon. Particularly, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy S22 should get this technology. This simply means they will not only be more innovative but also they will lack any cutouts.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3
As @UniverseIce proves, the under-screen camera on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have a 40% higher light transmittance when compared to under-display cameras on existing smartphones. Simply put, this camera will absorb more light, ensuring the photos to look brighter and videos to be less noisy. But it seems the screen’s area above the camera will display a mosaic pattern. This is more noticeable when there is a white background.

As for the rest of the features, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 should come with a 16MP selfie sensor (Sony IMXx71). And though the resolution is quite high, the photo quality will yield that of punch-hole cameras.
Under the hood, this handset will also host the Snapdragon 888 processor, a 12GB/16GB RAM, and a 256GB/512GB internal storage. On the front, we have a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O cover display with a 120Hz refresh rate. But it will use a punch-hole design. The internal screen will be 7.5 inches in size. It will use a Super AMOLED display with a QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. They will come with HDR10+ certifications.

Apart from two selfie cameras, the phone will also have a triple-camera on the back (12MP wide-angle camera + 12MP ultra-wide camera + 12MP telephoto camera). They all will be able to record 4K 60fps videos.
Inside, the handset will carry a 4,400mAh battery. Plus, there will also be AKG-tuned stereo speakers, GPS, 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, UWB, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. As for the system, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will run on the Android 11-based One UI 3.5.
Will The Samsung Galaxy S22 Use Under-Screen Camera Technology?
As said, the Galaxy S21 will be another Samsung-branded smartphone with an under-screen camera. But apart from this, the phone will also come with a number of important camera improvements. They include a sensor-shift stabilization system and a continuous zoom periscope camera module.
Unfortunately, there are some rumors claiming that Samsung has decided not to use the under-screen camera system on the Galaxy S22 series. It turns out the South Korean company wasn’t satisfied with the image quality. Plus, the production wouldn’t manage to supply as many units as needed for millions of Galaxy S22 phones. So likely, this technology may debut not with the Z Fold 3 or the S21 but with the Galaxy Note series in the second half of 2022.
