Not long ago, Huawei held a HarmonyOS conference and officially released the HarmonyOS 2 operating system. At the same time, it talked about the upcoming Huawei P50 series of flagship smartphones.
At that time, Yu Chengdong said that Huawei’s P-series flagships are routinely updated every spring. However, because of well-known reasons (the US sanctions and chip shortage), the Huawei P50 series has been postponed. Unfortunately, he didn’t mention any specific time it will appear on the market. Moreover, all previous rumors were not accurate.
Anyway, this doesn’t mean we have no information about the launch date. It turns out the new Huawei MatePad 11 tablet and the Huawei P50 series smartphones will come before September. As a reminder, much earlier, there were rumors that both will hit the market after September.
In other words, this means that the Huawei P50 series flagship phones will be officially launched in July or August. And though we don’t know exactly when the phone will go on sale, this is better than not having anything at all.
Gizchina News of the week
Huawei P50 Features
Well, the Huawei P50 has appeared in various leaks and posters. From them, we know that the back design of the Huawei P50 series is basically the same as that of the previous reports. The rear camera will adopt a double-ring design. But the lenses, their number, their resolution will vary from model to model.
But in the past, we heard that the Huawei P50 will sport Sony’s exclusive custom IMX800 sensor as standard. This lens has an ultra-large base close to 1”. This is also the largest sensor in Sony’s history and can bring more powerful imaging effects.
Furthermore, Leica will not cancel its cooperation with Huawei. So we can say the previous news as Leica would replace Huawei with Xiaomi are false.
We have less information about the front panel. But we know that the P50 will abandon the previous ‘pill’ type double-punch-hole screen and replace them with a centrally placed single-hole screen. The overall screen-to-body ratio has been greatly increased. As a result, the visual effect is more coordinated. Also, the screen border control is very good. The screen size should be 6.3 inches.
Under the hood, the Huawei P50 this series will host the Kirin 9000E/9000 processor. They also will get power from a battery, of which the capacity will vary from 4200mAh to 4300mAh. These smartphones will support 66W wired fast charging and 55W wireless fast charging.
