Despite the fact that Qualcomm is one of the largest chip makers, the company does not have its own factories, chipsets are produced by third-party manufactures. Samsung and TSMC act as manufacturers of the company’s platforms, which regularly arrange competitions among themselves who will get a contract for the release of premium processors. It was reported that Qualcomm is ready to entrust the release of the flagship chip of 2022 (presumably Snapdragon 895) to the South Korean giant.
Snapdragon 895 SoC
According to Notebookcheck, Samsung will get the contract for producing the successor to the Snapdragon 888. Like the latest Samsung Exynos 2200 chip, the new platform from Qualcomm will be a 4nm process technology chip. Presumably, in fact, they did not fully master the 4nm process technology yet. Samsung simply renamed the third-generation 5nm process technology (5LPA) to 4LPE; and this explains the “no difference in performance between 5LPA and 4LPE”.
Recall that according to rumors, the successor to the Snapdragon 888 received the SM8450 model number and the Kryo 780 computing cores, created on the basis of the Cortex-v9 architecture. We expect that we are talking about customized cores Cortex-X2 and Cortex-A710, as well as the presence of Cortex-A510 cores should be expected. The video accelerator Adreno 730 will be responsible for graphics processing. The new top-end SoC should launch in December.

Qualcomm Ready to Invest in Arm
NVIDIA has announced its intentions to buy the British developer of processor architectures Arm from the current owner; the Japanese corporation SoftBank, for $ 40 billion. Now the deal is in discussions with the antimonopoly authorities of different countries. The future CEO of Qualcomm said that if the deal does not go through; the company is ready to invest in Arm and attract like-minded people.
At the end of June, Cristiano Amon will take over as CEO of Qualcomm; he has already shared thoughts on the deal between NVIDIA and Arm. The American telecommunications solutions developer is ready to attract investors to the capital of Arm; if the current owner, SoftBank, chooses to bring it to the public stock market; instead of selling its assets to NVIDIA. Until 2016, Arm was a public company; and Qualcomm management is convinced that only in this status, the ecosystem it created will remain truly open. Among the clients of Arm, as the future head of Qualcomm notes, there are already those who share this point of view, they are ready, if necessary, to provide financial support to the British holding. Among the opponents of the deal between Arm and NVIDIA, for example, we have Tesla and Amazon.
