A recent report from DSCC founder and CEO @RossYoung claims that Honor’s foldable smartphone is on the way. According to him, Honor’s foldable phone will use foldable panels of Visionox and BOE. He also emphasized that this will be the first show of Visionox’s folding screen solution. Furthermore, this new foldable smartphone from Honor will use an in-folding display. According to previous reports, this foldable smartphone from Honor belongs to the Magic series. The expectation is that this device will be the Honor Magic X.
If there is no sudden change, the Honor Magic X should be Honor’s first foldable smartphone. The company has already applied for a trademark for this name. Previous speculations claim that this device will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 flagship platform.
Honor Magic X may be experiencing some delays
Reports out of China via @长安数码君 (a popular Weibo leakster) claims that the Honor Magic X series foldable smartphone will arrive at the middle of the year. Well, we are already in the middle of the year and there is no Magic X yet. It appears that there are some delays or the initial report was wrong. However, there is a general delay in the industry considering the shortage of chips and the pandemic effect.

The blogger also claims that the Honor Magic series is a super flagship and will compete against the Huawei Mate series. Honor will also have products in different categories including smartphones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches. The Magic series will also have different series.
According to Honor’s CEO, Zhao, the target of the company is to be rivals with Apple, Samsung, and Huawei. Honor will unveil an ultra-high-end flagship Magic series this year. The future will go beyond the Magic series as Honor is planning for more.
From other speculations, the Honor foldable smartphone will officially arrive after August. Analysts believe that this device will arrive in October, latest November. However, there is nothing official from Honor regarding this device for now.
Honor Magic 3 to use Snapdragon 888 Pro
In other reports, @DCS, claims that the Honor Magic 3 will arrive with the Snapdragon 888 Pro chip around August. There is no information on whether or not the Honor Magic 3 will be the first to use this chip.
According to previous reports, a device with the Snapdragon 888 recently appeared on Geekbench. Its X1 super core has been increased from 2.84GHz to 3.0GHz, and the other core frequencies remain unchanged. The GPU frequency is unknown, but its score is not much different from the regular version.
