OnePlus Nord N200 5G launched with Snapdragon 480 and 90Hz display

OnePlus Nord N200

OnePlus decided to start a new adventure in July last year when it introduced the OnePlus Nord. The device was a premium mid-range device that came as a nice option for those wishing to enter the OnePlus ecosystem. Later in October, the company introduced the OnePlus Nord N10 and OnePlus Nord N100 as more affordable options. The Nord N100 was a budget smartphone that was somewhat lackluster, but still decent. This month, the company decided to launch a sequel for the budget-friendly smartphone in the form of the OnePlus Nord N200 5G.

While the OnePlus Nord N10 was replaced by a OnePlus Nord CE 5G, the Nord N200 follows the numbered structure of its predecessor. The Nord N200 brings some similarities with its predecessor but brings many upgrades such as 5G connectivity. This is the cheapest 5G smartphone from the Chinese smartphone maker. Besides 5G, it also brings neat specifications to complete the package.

OnePlus Nord N200 5G specifications

The OnePlus Nord N200 5G flaunts a 6.49-inch LCD with an FHD+ resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels and 405 PPI pixel density. The panel also brings a 90Hz refresh rate. Last year, this refresh rate was available on the N100’s HD+ screen, but OnePlus didn’t make any buzz about it, users had to find it by themselves. Now, however, the feature is available straight out of the box and it’s good to see the improvement in resolution. The screen also ditches the waterdrop notch of its predecessor in favor of a top-left punch-hole for the 16MP selfie snapper.

Moving around to the back, the device carries a triple-camera setup with a LED flash. The primary camera is a 13MP sensor, which is accompanied by a 2MP macro and a 2MP monochrome sensor. Technically, this setup isn’t anything to write about, but we can understand that camera isn’t a priority for this handset. The appeal here is to bring 5G and acceptable performance.

As far as performance goes, the new Snapdragon 480 5G is far better than the Snapdragon 460. The Octa-Core processor is built on an 8nm fabrication process and is paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage. The device is available only in a single variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of Internal Storage. Thankfully, you can expand the storage with a good microSD card slot. This is one of the few OnePlus smartphones to have this feature.

The OnePlus Nord N200 5G draws power from a huge 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. The device also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a USB Type-C charging port. The device comes with 5G, Bluetooth 5.1, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, NFC, and full GPS connectivity. The device weighs in at 189 grams.

OnePlus Nord N200 5G pricing and availability

The Nord N200 costs $239 and will be up for sale in Canada and the United States. For now, the company is yet to disclose its plans about releasing it in Europe or India.
