OnePlus Nord CE 5G receives first software update

OnePlus Nord CE 5G

OnePlus was once one of the fastest smartphone makers rolling out software updates for its devices. The situation is changing now that the company has a plethora of smartphones to take care of. However, as far as incremental updates are concerned, the company still does a great job. While some devices are waiting for Android 11, the company is offering decent support with constant bug fixes, improvements, and security updates. Now, the company is rolling out a new incremental update for the OnePlus Nord CE 5G.

You didn’t read it wrongly, the recently released OnePlus Nord CE 5G has just received a new firmware update. This is becoming a common behavior. Apparently, the company is not being able to finish the software in time for certain releases. We assume that many buyers are yet to receive their OnePlus Nord CE 5G units, but the update is already rolling out. According to OnePlus, it addresses some issues and bumps the Security patch to May 2021.

OxygenOS 11.0.2.2 update brings May 2021 security patch and enhancements

The security patch is very intriguing, but we assume that OnePlus has been testing the device with a much older security patch. Apparently, the company didn’t manage to update it before the release. May 2021 is not the most updated, but that is still acceptable. Worth noting that most of the OnePlus smartphones are currently running it. The company seems to be sticking with a bi-month schedule for security patches, so OnePlus Nord CE 5G can also expect an update to July 2021 in the next month. Putting the security patch aside, the update also brings improvements for the color accuracy of the display, fixes some stability issues, and refinements for the selfie portrait mode.

The new firmware carries OxygenOS 11.0.2.2 and curiously it is not being widely distributed. For now, the update is reaching just a few early adopters. In the same way, the company didn’t publish a post for this update on its community forum. So it may take a couple of days to reach all eligible units. We assume that there aren’t many users at this moment as the device just went on sale.
