Yesterday, we have been talking about the upcoming launch of the Huawei P50 smartphones. Particularly, we said that the release date won’t be changed anymore. The Huawei CEO confirmed this in an interview. But we didn’t know the exact date. Prior to that, we only knew that the series will be uncovered before September. Thus, there has been no specific date. Anyway, today, we got more interesting and precise information. A Weibo tipster posted a binary number (1011011001) next to the name of the P50. If transforming it to the decimal form, it will be 729. So if our assumptions are true, the upcoming Huawei flagship line models will hit the market on July 29.
However, many other Weibo bloggers found that most of the Huawei P50 series stocked at this stage are mainly 4G versions. But they do not sport the previously rumored Qualcomm 4G chip. Instead, they come with a HiSilicon Kirin 9000 series SoC.
Gizchina News of the week
Well, at the moment, we know almost everything concerning its selling points. Say, we know that the Huawei P50 will use a design similar to the Honor 50. It has a dual-ring multi-camera on the rear. The latter should come with an f/1.8 IMX707 main camera CMOS with a focal length of 18~125mm. Thus, it can achieve an equivalent 5x optical zoom.
Interestingly, the design our protagonist will adopt has come a long way. The early version was using a 6.3-inch flat screen. The whole machine is about 156.7 x 74 x 8.3 mm (including the rear camera bump, 10.6 mm). But the final version’s lens may be slightly thinner than that.
Of course, this line handsets will run on the HarmonyOS 2.0 out of the box. This means we are talking about the first flagship handset that will come with Huawei’s self-developed operating system. The latter is known as “Android Killer.” And there is every reason to think this strategy could work. We mean HarmonyOS has been developed as “an operating system for everything” in mind. And while Google puts more efforts to make its Android OS compatible with various IoT products, Huawei has put the idea in the core. We already know that users like this system and think it doesn’t yield Android in terms of smoothness. Plus, some major manufacturers have also adopted this system, including Midea, Meizu, etc.
Generally, the Huawei P50 series should have three versions of P50, P50 Pro, P50 Pro+. But the line may include more variants.
