The next step in the evolution of mobile processors is the 4-nanometer process technology. The largest contract manufacturer TSMC plans in the third quarter of this year to start test production of processors based on the 4-nm process technology. It is quite predictable that the new chips will be able to boast of increased performance and reduced power consumption.
MediaTek 4nm SoC
Among those who are interested in being among the first to get a processor, created using a 4-nanometer process technology, the company MediaTek. From one of the Chinese insiders, information came that the Taiwanese chipmaker intends to present a flagship processor, created using 4-nanometer technology, in the first half of next year. And this chip will be produced by TSMC. We already know that among those who are not averse to buying a batch of these chipsets are Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi.
The new chip is runs the ARM v9 architecture; and will include the latest Cortex-X2 and Cortex-A510 cores. Presumably, the graphics accelerator Mali-G710, which became the successor to the Mali-G78, will be responsible for graphics processing. If these predictions ultimately come true, then next year MediaTek may roll out a true flagship processor that can compete with the Snapdragon 895 (presumably the name of the new top-end chip from Qualcomm).

MediaTek SoCs
MediaTek has recently expanded its mobile processor family with the announcement of the Dimensity 900 SoC for high-performance 5G cellular smartphones.
So, the chip is using a 6-nanometer technology. It contains eight processing cores. Two ARM Cortex-A78 cores up to 2.4 GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores up to 2.0 GHz.
Also, graphics processing is occupied by the ARM Mali-G68 MC4 accelerator. It is possible to use displays of the Full HD + format with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Implemented support for LPDDR4X / LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 2.1 / 3.1 flash drives.
In addition, smartphones running on Dimensity 900 can have a 108-megapixel camera; or a dual camera with a pair of 20-megapixel sensors; and the ability to shoot footage at 30 frames per second.
Additionally, the features include Wi-Fi 6 (2×2 MIMO) and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless controllers, third generation APUs to accelerate AI operations.
Using the latest TSMC 6nm production process; the Dimensity 900 is exceptionally light on power, extending battery life even for demanding users.
Also, the built-in modem provides support for 5G SA / NSA networks and Dual-SIM 5G Standby functionality. The download speed over the cellular network can reach 2.7 Gbps.
