The U.S has cut off Huawei from accessing American technologies, and it was deprived of the opportunity to order the production of chips from TSMC, it seriously thought about setting up the production of microcircuits on its own. Despite the fact that Kirin could not match the power of the top-end SoCs from Qualcomm; they did have their advantages, especially in the field of machine learning.
Perhaps next year Kirin will return to the market and the chips will come off the assembly line of the factory located in Wuhan, Hubei province. Its creation started in 2019, and the company call the project itself “Hisilicon Factory”. The company has invested 1.8 billion yuan in it and should receive a return on investment next year.
The factory itself initially specialized in the production of microcircuits and optical communication modules. This was necessary in order to achieve self-sufficiency and in parallel to create microcircuit designs.
In the same city of Wuhan, there is the Huawei Research Institute, whose employees are working in the development of HiSilicon chips, laser radars for cars and equipment for optical communications. The staff of this institution numbers 10 thousand people and it is a powerful scientific center.
And if Huawei does manage to start shipping chips next year; then this is good news for the market in terms of competition and innovation. The emergence of one more player will keep all the players in the mobile chips market in good shape.

Huawei P50 may be presented on July 29
Earlier on the network, there were rumors that the release of Huawei P50 will take place on September; but perhaps this information does not correspond to the real state of affairs. Several netizens via Weibo reported at once that the series could be presented in July and the estimated release date is July 29th.
Reportedly, the Huawei P50 will receive a design that we have already seen in the Honor 50 family. In particular, an oval block of the main camera containing two circles with image sensors will be installed on the backside.
The latest rumors indicate that the new items will receive OLED panels with increased hertz, proprietary HarmonyOS operating system, rechargeable batteries with a capacity of at least 4000 mAh and fast charging with a capacity of at least 66 watts.
The Huawei P50’s camera should receive a new 50-megapixel Sony IMX707 or Sony IMX700 sensor. It will be a sensor offering large pixels and an optical format of 1/1.18 inches. There is reason to believe that the cooperation with Leica has come to an end; and the company’s flagships will not receive the optics of this German company.
