POCO launched two smartphones sporting the cutting edge MediaTek Dimensity 1100 and 1200 SoC – The Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G and the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, respectively. Right now, these devices are exclusive to the Chinese market, but we know that it is just a matter of time until Xiaomi brings them to the global markets. Apparently, this will happen pretty soon and these devices will come under POCO branding. The Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G will reach the markets as the POCO X3 GT, whereas the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will land on global markets as the POCO F3 GT. Note that “GT” branding that Xiaomi is borrowing from Realme.
Today, the POCO F3 GT is giving an important step that hints at its imminent release in India. The upcoming smartphone has now appeared on the BIS certification website. The Bureau of Indian Standards attests to certain aspects of the smartphone and decides if it can be released in India. The device has passed through the certification with bells and whistles. This happens a couple of days after the device passed through TUV Rheinland which certifies some aspects such as fast-charging, display, and battery.
The POCO F3 GT has appeared on the BIS certification with model number 2104K10L. The handset already passed through the IMEI database with the very same module number. It confirms the speculations that the POCO F3 GT is a rebranded Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition. After all, the gaming variant of the Redmi K40 series sports a similar model number M2104K10C. The Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition reached China a couple of months ago. The device carries a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset and is built on a 6 nm fabrication process.
POCO F3 GT alleged specifications
The POCO F3 GT sports a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with up to 120 Hz of refresh rate. Interestingly, this is the first POCO smartphone to reach India with an AMOLED display. The device carries the 6nm-based MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC which is a power-beast powered by the ARM Cortex-A78 cores and also has a Mali-G78 GPU with nine cores. The device has a vapor cooling tech to ensure better thermal management. It runs Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 running on the top.
The smartphone draws power from a huge 5,065mAh battery with 65W fast charging. In terms of optics, it sports a 64MP primary camera, with ambient light around the camera. This light doubles as a notification LED. The device also has an 8MP ultrawide-angle camera, and a 2 MP macro lens. For selfies, we have a punch hole unit with a 16MP shooter.
We expect more details to be revealed in the coming weeks. The POCO X3 GT will probably tag along with the F3 GT.
