Vivo is once again adding a new member to its huge Vivo Y-series. Recently, the company launched the Vivo Y51A in India. Now, the company is adding a new variant to the portfolio with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal Storage. This variant comes to play a role as a more affordable variant than its 8 GB counterpart. Apart from the new RAM options, other specifications should remain the same as before. The device will also be available in the same colorways it was before.
Vivo Y51A specifications
The Vivo Y51A boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset, this is an 11nm Octa-Core chipset that delivers pure mid-range performance. It can run some games without much issue but don’t expect it to be a powerhouse. It will deliver multi-tasking fine thanks to the 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM depending on the variant. The device has 128 GB of Internal Storage in both cases, but you can also expand this with a good micro SD card.
The smartphone flaunts a 6.58-inch Full HD+ display with 2,400 x 1,080 pixels resolution. This is a common LCD and unfortunately offers only a 60Hz refresh rate. The device has 8.8 mm thickness and weighs in at 188 grams. Moving around to the rear, we have a Triple-camera setup. The primary camera is a 48 MP unit. There is also an 8 MP Ultra-wide angle camera, a 2MP unit for macro shots, and a 2MP depth-sensing module. On the front, we have a ditch notch serving as a home for the 16 MP selfie snapper.

The device features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as a power key. It draws power from a huge 5,000mAh battery that fortunately charges at an 18W rate. The smartphone comes in two colorways and both colors are available no matter the RAM variant you choose.
Other notable features incle 4G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB Type-C port. Fortunately, the smartphone comes with Android 11 straight out of the box with FuntouchOS 11 running on top. We are curious to see if the extended RAM feature is available in this device. After all, it can add an extra 3GB of virtual RAM.
Pricing and Availability
The Vivo Y51A with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal Storage will retail in India at INR 16,990. The variant that ships with 8 GB RAM remains on sale at INR 17,990. According to the Chinese brand, the newly launched variant will be available through the Vivo India store. However, more stores may receive it in the future.
