Although Huawei sold the Honor brand and the new smartphones are already shipping with Google services, the company still has a commitment to those who previously purchased Honor products. Honor Finland spoke about the strategy for firmware updates for older models of the brand.
It is known that Huawei itself will deal with the release of new versions of firmware for smartphones, presented before April 1, 2021, until the end of their life cycles. Honor will be solely responsible for updates for models released after April 1st. This means, for example, that the Honor 50 series will be supported by the spin-off brand itself.
In Finland, Honor promises to provide support for older devices under its brand until it hands over those features to Huawei.
Huawei will provide updates to Honor smartphones presented before April 1
“If a user contacts us, we will always help as best we can before redirecting to Huawei support. We continue to help with questions related to the use of smartphones. Our goal is to serve both old and new Honor users as much as possible, ”said Suvi Surenkin, Marketing Director for Finland and the Baltic Region.
Additionally, Huawei has confirmed that it will continue to support older Honor models with monthly updates and lower-end devices with quarterly updates. In particular, Honor 20, 20 Pro and View 20 will receive new software every month. The following models will receive quarterly updates until the end of the life cycle:

Honor is back in the big game with the launch of the Honor 50 series. New items are actively snapping up in China and hitting sales records from the first days. Now the task is to regain the lost ground, and this can be done only by the release of new smartphones. Therefore, the company will not delay the announcement of the Honor 20 series and will present it in the coming days.
Indirectly, the speedy release of new products is confirmed by “live” photos of Honor X20 SE, which were shared with a wide audience by the well-known network informant Digital Chat Station. The photos were taken in one of the company’s stores, where the new Honor 50 Pro is visible in the background. It seems that the company is preparing for the start of sales of the Honor X20 series and the batch of Honor X20 SE has already been delivered to retail outlets.
