Samsung has been greatly expanding its portfolio of 5G smartphones lately. The company started to bring more 5G smartphones under the mid-range category earlier this year with the Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72 5G. A couple of months later, the company brought its cheapest 5G smartphone in the form of Galaxy A22 5G. Now, it is gearing up to bring a new “value for money” device that should impress users with performance but without being much expensive. The Galaxy M52 5G is set to go official soon with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G which puts it beyond the A52 5G. Today, the device passed through 3C (Compulsory Certification of China) giving us further details to look at.
The 3C certification brings some light on the Galaxy M52 5G’s actual battery capacity. The device is certified with an EB-BM526ABY battery. This unit comes with a capacity of 4,860mAh. We assume that this is the rated (minimal) battery capacity. The company will certainly focus its marketing campaign on the device’s typical battery size which probably is 5,000mAh. Aside from the battery size, we don’t know exactly how fast this device will charge. Looking at past Samsung releases in the mid-range department, we assume it will come with 25W fast charging. That’s not on par with current smartphones, even in the mid-range segment. However, Samsung is still below its competitors when it comes to fast-charging technologies.
Gizchina News of the week
According to reports, the Samsung Galaxy M52 5G will bring the very same camera setup as the Galaxy A52 5G. For those unaware, the 5G mid-range smartphone packs a primary 64 MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, and Optical Image Stabilization. It gets helped by a 12 MP f/2.2 ultrawide module, a 5 MP f/2.4 macro camera, and a 5 MP f/2.4 depth-sensing module. This camera setup supports 4K video recording at 30 frames per second or Full HD+ at 60 frames per second. Selfie lovers have a 32 MP selfie snapper. The Galaxy M52 5G may downgrade the things a little bit by adding a 16 MP snapper to the front. The device probably has an AMOLED screen with a centered punch-hole cutout.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy M52 5G will be the very first Samsung smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G. This chip is faster and more efficient than the Snapdragon 750G on the Galaxy A52 5G. It is even better than the Snapdragon 765G found on most 2020 premium mid-range smartphones.
We believe Samsung will target an “affordable price tag” for this device. After all, it’s a Galaxy M-series smartphone.
