Google is slated to introduce new game mode APIs for the Android 12 mobile operating system. The search engine giant unveiled the much-awaited Android 12 during this year’s I/O event. Aside from the I/O, there are other developer conferences comprising Android-related information.
The 2021 Google for Games Developer Summit kicks off on July 12. The event’s keynotes are expected to span across two days, with the event coming to an end on July 13. Aside from revealing the full schedule, Google has set up YouTube premieres for each keynote. While neither the schedule nor the YouTube premieres reveal key information, they hint at some key Android 12 features.
New Android 12 OS Features
The feature-laden Android 12 OS boasts highly appealing themes, visual effects, and useful widgets. Android Developers shared a video for the ādelivery space updatesā keynote on its YouTube channel. While the video is set to premiere in two days. the tech giant has revealed that it is gearing up to āunveil a transformational feature for Android 12 devices.ā
The title of the keynote, as well as the description, suggests that the new feature will enhance video games’ downloading experience. Regrettably, the description doesn’t shed light on how the tech behemoth plans to accomplish that. We’d need to wait until Monday with bated breath to find out.
Gizchina News of the week
The video description points out that the size of video games is increasing, along with the game quality. Much to the chagrin of avid gamers, this leads to long downloads. According to Android Developers, the video will revolve around their involvement in the delivery space and how it impacts the user experience.
More importantly, the company will be unveiling a “transformational feature” for devices running the latest Android 12 OS. In addition to sharing partner success, the video will feature the announcement of new features that have been built on top of Play Asset Delivery.
Google Teases New Game Mode API For Android 12
There will be another keynote that will focus on new āGame Modeā APIs for Android 12. The company seems to be working on new APIs that will enable gamers to adjust their settings to boost performance. Alternatively, these APIs will come in handy for optimizing power use based on the gamers’ preference.
Video gamers fancy customizing their gaming experience in terms of achieving the highest frame rate, or battery savings. Android 12 OS’ new APIs will respond to gamers’ preferences. The video description urged gamers to integrate and test their games while preparing for upcoming phone launches.
Details about these new APIs are few and far between. It is not clear whether it is linked to the game dashboard feature, which was discovered in Android 12 Developer Preview builds. The menu on the game dashboard features game optimization setting such as battery saver, standard, and performance mode.
