A new leaked image of the Nokia XR20 offers a first look at the upcoming phone’s ruggedized design, key specs, and other details. HMD Global is gearing up to unveil its rugged smartphone later this month. The device has been floating around the rumor mill for quite some time now, making multiple appearances in the form of renders.
On July 13, the Nokia Mobile Twitter account shared an image of a handset slated to arrive on July 27. The company did not offer many contexts, but the teaser had text that indicated that the upcoming device might be a rugged smartphone. Interestingly, the phone’s design looks a lot like the recently announced Nokia X10 and X20. The circular rear-mounted camera module housed four cameras with an LED flash. It also had a ZEISS branding.

Much to the delight of the members of the Nokia Community forums, the exciting Nokia phone appeared on a banner on the home page of the forum earlier this month. The banner was originally spotted by LoveNokia. The aforesaid image has now been taken down from the forum site. The old teaser has replaced the new image of the XR20 on the forum site.

The Nokia XR20 Image showcases the phone with water droplets. In other words, that phone is likely to carry an IP68 rating, according to GSMArena. Moreover, it is expected to be the long-awaited Nokia X20 successor. The XR20 appears to sport a square-shaped camera module at the back with two cameras. It is worth noting that Nokia phones have never featured a square camera setup before. Furthermore, there’s a ZEISS branding, along with a couple of LED flash units.
Aside from that, there’s a 3.5mm audio jack placed at the bottom, along with a speaker grille, USB-C port, and a microphone. The phone shown in the image appears to be the blue color option of the Nokia XR20. Moreover, it is housed in a rugged frame with a textured rear panel. The back houses two cameras, which coincides with the specs revealed in the retailer listing.

Previously surfaced reports suggest that the phone will sport a 6.67-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with an aspect ratio of 20:5.9. Under the hood, the phone will pack a Snapdragon 480 chip. Furthermore, the XR20 will ship with 6GB of RAM and offer a hearty 128GB of onboard storage capacity. As if that weren’t enough, it will have a microSD card slot that can be used for additional storage.
Upfront, the phone will feature an 8MP camera for video calling and capturing self-portraits. Aside from that, it will house two rear-mounted cameras including a 48MP primary camera and a 13MP Ultra-Wide camera. It will run Android 11 mobile OS. In terms of connectivity, the XR20 comes with a Type-C, GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, AGPS, NFC, Wi-Fi, BT v5.1, LTE, 3G, and 2G.
