It has been a while since the last Motorola revealed flagships. Last year, the company introduced the Motorola Edge and Edge+ as a flagship and a premium mid-range smartphone. Earlier this year, it revealed the Motorola Edge S as the first smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC. Now, the company is preparing the terrain for unveiling a new lineup under Motorola Edge 20 branding. This lineup reportedly includes the Motorola Edge 20, Motorola Edge 20 Pro, and Edge 20 Lite. The two first smartphones were spotted on TENAA’s website earlier this month. This suggests a release in the Chinese market which is hardly a surprise at this point. Today renders of the Motorola Edge 20’s global variant have surfaced. Apparently, Motorola is adopting some trending design elements this time around.
Motorola Edge 20 alleged specifications
The global Motorola Edge 20 packs a huge 6.7-inch display with slim bezels on the sides and a small chin. According to the source, the device might be bigger than it appears in the renders. According to the leaks, this screen will have a Full HD+ resolution. It will also offer a 120 Hz of refresh rate. As we can see through the leaked renders, the punch hole comprises a 32 MP selfie shooter. Moving around to the back, we have a triple-camera setup. It consists of 108 MP, 16 MP, and 8 MP cameras. The camera module is a rectangle with three big holes for the cameras. Apparently, the 16 MP until is an ultrawide module, while the 8 MP camera is a telephoto module that will offer 3x optical zoom.
The bottom part of the Motorola Edge 20 is a USB-C port flanked by a speaker, microphone, and a SIM card slot. The top houses a secondary microphone. The smartphone does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack. It’s good to see a smartphone in the flagship segment that is keeping the old analog port. The right side of the smartphone serves as a home for the power button and the volume rocker. Worth noting that the power button doubles as a fingerprint scanner. For that reason, we believe that the display might be a common LCD. After all, if it was an AMOLED display, Motorola would opt for an in-display fingerprint scanner. Of course, the company can choose the same route that Xiaomi took with the Redmi Note 10 series to keep the costs down.
The Motorola Edge 20 rocks the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC at the helm. It also has 6 GB/ 8 GB of RAM with 128 / 256 GB of Internal Storage. The device is 8.9 mm thick and has a 4,000mAh battery fueling the whole package.
