Facebook And Google Require Employees To Wear Masks When Returning To Office

Facebook requires employees to wear masks

Last week, Facebook required its employees to be vaccinated before returning to work. Yesterday, Facebook announced that they also must wear masks. The new regulations will take effect this Wednesday.

Facebook’s approach is related to the re-heating of the epidemic in the United States. Of course, there are abundant vaccine resources in the United States. But the coverage rate of vaccines has so far been less than 60%. The US government blames the dissemination of false information for the reason for the stagnation of vaccination. In addition, the public’s lax prevention of epidemics has once again increased the epidemic in the United States.

Facebook confirmed to the media that employees are required to wear masks to work, stating that the health and safety of employees and neighbors in the community is still the company’s top priority. In view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases, new variants of COVID-19, and following the requirements of the local government, Facebook decided to require all employees in the US office to wear masks to work, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not.

When entering the Facebook office to go to work before, only employees who have not received the vaccine must wear masks, but they can take off the masks if they have been vaccinated. The new regulations are equivalent to requiring all employees to wear masks, of course, including contractors.

Google Did The Same

The COVID -19 Delta type virus has caused a rapid increase in the United States recently. The US government has taken the lead in requiring employees of public agencies to be vaccinated. Technology companies have also responded to it. Google CEO Sundar Pichai pointed out that in order to make efforts for employees to return to the company to work, Google will promote two new measures. First of all, anyone who enters the company to work must complete the vaccination.

This requirement will first be implemented in the United States within a few weeks. It will be rolled out to other regions in the next few months. But this is mandatory only if the country already has vaccine supplies. Secondly, Google will extend the period for employees to work from home until October 18. Google will also continue to observe the adjustment of the epidemic, with the goal of returning all employees to the company.
