Today, Huawei announced that it will invest $100 million in the Asia- Pacific Spark Program in the next three years to build an Asia-Pacific start-up ecosystem. At the meeting, the company announced the launch of three Asia-Pacific SPARK start-up support programs. These programs are Spark Developer Program, Spark Pitstop program, and Spark Innovation Program (SIP).
The Spark Developer Program aims to construct the Huawei Cloud Asia-Pacific developer ecosystem. For the Spark Pitstop program, it aims to help start-ups adopt Huawei Cloud for promotion and rapid product development. The Spark Innovation Program (SIP) helps enterprises to innovate through the Spark startup ecosystem.
Huawei CloudBU President, Zhang Pingan, said, “This time we also officially released the Cloud Collaborative Innovation Plan for the world. This includes Cloud and Device services to provide start-ups with $20 million in resource support. This is the plan for 2021 and will also cover support for 200 entrepreneurial companies in the HMS ecosystem. Furthermore, Huawei will share channel resources with global developers, cover 1 billion Huawei end users, and build an HMS developer innovation center to cultivate 100,000 HMS cloud-native developers”.

Huawei Cloud is the fastest growing globally
According to Huawei’s annual report, in 2020, the company’s global sales revenue hit 891.4 billion yuan ($135.7 billion). This is a year-on-year increase of 3.8%. Furthermore, the company also records a net profit of 64.6 billion yuan ($9.8 billion), a year-on-year increase of 3.2%.
As in previous years, Huawei’s annual report published relevant financial data for the three major businesses including operators, consumers, and enterprises. However, the company did not disclose financial data related to the cloud business. The company includes its Cloud business as part of its corporate business. However, according to Hu Houkun, the growth rate of Huawei Cloud in 2020 is as high as 168%.
“Huawei Cloud has made great efforts in the ecology”. The annual report shows that Huawei Cloud has launched more than 220 cloud services, more than 210 solutions, has obtained more than 80 authoritative security certifications worldwide. The company has also worked with over 19,000 partners bringing together no less than 10,000 developers and more than 4,000 applications to the cloud market.
