Recently Sony has published a report for the first quarter of the current fiscal year. In it, it noted several important indicators: the sales of the PS5 exceeded 10 million units, and the version of the console with an optical drive is no longer sold at a loss. The Japanese company also said it has secured enough semiconductor chips; to achieve the desired sales results for the PlayStation 5 in the current fiscal year. It will end in March 2022.
Sony has stocked enough chips for PS5 despite their scarcity
Sony’s CFO Hiroki Totoki commented on this. According to Twinfinite, the head confirmed that the company plans to sell 14.8 million units for the current fiscal year. In the first quarter, it managed to sell 2.3 million units of PlayStation 5; and reached a total sales of 10.1 million PS5. If the company has provided a sufficient number of chips and is able to fulfill its goal; then in March 2022 the total number of sold consoles will reach 22.6 million.
Let’s remind: the demand for the PlayStation 5 continues to be at a high level. This is once again confirmed by the sale of the last batch of consoles in the DNS. All consoles were sold in 20 minutes. This gives an idea of how the demand for the new consoles is.
