Google is set to launch its much-awaited Pixel 5a smartphone in India next month, but details about the handset have already surfaced online. The Pixel 5a has been floating around the rumor mill for a long time. The search engine giant decided to cancel the device’s launch this year. However, the tech behemoth took a U-turn on its initial statement and confirmed that the Pixel 5a will arrive later this year.
Now, some key specifications of the impending Google Pixel 5a smartphone, along with its launch date in India have been tipped. Much to the delight and relief of Indian consumers waiting to get their hands on the new Pixel handset, it appears the Pixel 5a is coming to India.
Will Google Pixel 5a Launch In India?
Noted tipster Jon Prosser has shed light on the key specs, availability, and launch timeline of the Google Pixel 5a. According to his report on Front Page Tech, the tech company will be launching its budget Pixel in Japan and the US. Although Google had launched Pixel 4a in the country in 2020, the report suggested that it will not bring the Pixel 5a into the Indian market.

Aside from that, Prosser revealed that the Pixel 5a will be launched on August 26. The phone will go up for sale via online and offline stores in Japan and the US for $450. The phone was originally slated to hit the store shelves in June. In his latest report, Bloomberg’s analyst Mark Gurman has also confirmed that the device will be launched next month. Furthermore, the company will adopt the same strategy with the upcoming phone like the Pixel 4a.
In other words, the Pixel 5a will not boast an array of impressive features. Aside from that, it isn’t likely to set you back a pretty penny. Google made its foray into the mid-range segment in 2019 with the Pixel 3a. Last year, the tech giant took the midrange market by storm by launching the Pixel 4a. Just like the Pixel 3a and 4a, the upcoming Pixel 5a could house a single-camera sensor, decent hardware, and the latest software.

As mentioned earlier, the specifications of the Pixel 5a will be similar to their predecessor. Moreover, the Pixel mid-range smartphone will adopt the same outward appearance as the Pixel 4a with some minor changes in the optics department. A previously leaked 5a render showcased a square module housing two cameras with a flash. Moreover, the upcoming phone could feature a punch-hole cutout, a similar power button, and a fingerprint print scanner at the back.
The phone’s leaked specifications suggest that it will sport a 6.2-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The phone’s dimensions are 156.2 x 73.2 x 8.8mm. The handset will come with a 3.5mm jack. Aside from that, the Pixel 5a could pack a Snapdragon 750G budget 5G chipset. Furthermore, it could come with 6GB of RAM and offer 128GB UFS 3.1 storage. There could be a 3,840 mAh battery that supports 20W fast charging. The phone will reportedly run on Android 12 out of the box.
