On August 10, Xiaomi launched its much-awaited Mi TV 6 OLED series in China, alongside the equally-anticipated Mi MIX 4 and the Mi Pad 5. This is the second generation of OLED television from the Chinese tech giant. The TV doesn’t cost a bomb, yet offers a host of amazing features, much to the delight of budget-conscious buyers.

The company’s recently concluded product event revolved around the launch of the Mi Pad 5 and the Mi Mix 4 series of smartphones. Aside from that, the popular brand took the wraps off its latest TVs. Just like the Mi Mix 4, these televisions come with OLED screens. In other words, the long-awaited Mi TVs 5 successors sport an upgraded panel. Moreover, Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun shed more light on the features of the new smart TVs.

Despite carrying an affordable price tag, the Mi TV 6 OLED boasts an impressive array of features. The new TV’s thickness has been reduced to just 4.6mm. Aside from that, it offers extremely narrow bezels. On top of that, the device comes with a highly efficient heat dissipation system. The 4K OLED screen delivers a mammoth screen-to-body ratio of 97 percent.

If offers a professional color depth of 10-bit, peak brightness of 900 nits, paired with high color accuracy of ΔE2. On top of that, it delivers a 98.5 percent P3 color gamut with a grayscale response time of 1m. Moreover, it supports MEMC and offers efficient eye protection with MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation) technology, according to NotebookCheck.

Also, the display comes with HDR content support. As if that weren’t enough, it supports HLG, HDR10+, HDR10, Dolby Vision. In terms of audio output, the device features a dual-channel 12.5W four-unit speaker with separate own high-frequency and low-frequency speakers for each channel. Furthermore, the Xiaomi Mi TV 6 OLED has passed through IMAX Enhanced Audio and Video certification.

The Mi TV 6 Extreme Edition smart TV, which went up for sale on July 9, came with a dual-camera setup featuring a 48MP main sensor. Regrettably, the recently unveiled Mi TV 6 OLED doesn’t seem to house a camera setup. Nevertheless, it packs a powerful MediaTek 9638 quad-core processor under the hood. This processor comes with Cortex A55 cores that are clocked at 1.6GHz. There’s a Mali-G52 MC1 GPU, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.

Price & Availability

The Mi TV 6 OLED is available in two variants. There’s a 55-inch model, as well as a 65-inch model up for grabs. The 55-inch variant will set you back 5,699 yuan (about $879). This model is set to go up for sale on August 16 with an introductory price of 4,999 yuan ( about $771). The slightly bigger 65-inch variant will retail for 7,699 yuan ( about $1,188). You can get your hands on this model for a lowered price of just 6,999 yuan (about $1,080). You will be able to buy the model for this discounted price until August 18. Xiaomi will be selling the new TV for a discounted price of 5,000 yuan (about $771) in China.
