After ZTE, companies like Xiaomi and Samsung already made their move in bringing smartphones with under-display cameras. Now, the fourth company to venture in the market with a UDC is expected to be Oppo. The Chinese firm already developed this technology in the past, and is, in fact, gearing up to reveal a smartphone with the second generation of this technology. We may get the chance to experience this and more in the next week as the company is preparing a photography-centric event.
Earlier today, Oppo India Vice President and head of Research & Development Tasleem Arif took to Twitter to tease a camera-centric event. The folks at GSMArena also received an invite for this particular event. According to the report, the keynote is scheduled to take place on August 19 at 12 noon IST time.
The premise of the device, for now, remains a mystery, but everything points out to mobile cameras. According to the company, it is preparing a revolution that will transform user’s camera experience forever. This certainly means much more than bringing an under-display camera. What Oppo has in tow that has the capability of transforming the camera experience forever? We’ll have to wait until the next week to learn.
Hey #OPPOHumans we are working on something exciting to transform your 📱camera experience forever🙌🏻

Oppo may reveal a concept phone with its under-display camera technology.
Earlier this month, Oppo revealed that it has completed the development of its second-generation under-display camera. The technology is a fruit of a collaboration with BOE Display. If you recall, displays have been playing an important role in the arrival of this kind of “invisible camera”. After all, the portion of the display where the camera goes in needs to have a higher pixel density than the whole display. Unfortunately, the company didn’t disclose much about this technology at the moment. The full revelation may happen in the next week during the event. Oppo may even reveal a new concept smartphone showcasing the technology.
We expect Oppo to bring more teasers in the coming days in a bid to build anticipation for the August 19 event. For now, there isn’t a new Oppo smartphone in our radar, but there might be one until the end of the year. This device may implement the new “revolutionary camera” technology as well as the UDC. Rumors also suggest that Oppo is preparing a foldable handset for the end of the year. For that reason, we think that the company still has a big smartphone event happening before the end of 2021.
Looks like a liquid lens, annoying if it is, just got an 11 ultra.
