Oppo has just announced that it’s setting up a new camera innovation laboratory at its research and development facility in Hyderabad, India. The setup is seemingly targeted at developing the camera software prowess for Oppo. The company will work towards developing specific use cases for its camera AI algorithms. The new innovation lab will operate in many areas of development. For instance, it will help on improving night videography. It also comes to adapt Oppo camera performance to various ambient light temperatures.
According to Oppo, the camera innovation lab will be a hub for the company’s global imaging efforts. The technology developed out of its India facility will feature in markets such as the Middle East, South Asia, and more. The company claims that its efforts will help bring forth “high-end videography”. It will achieve this using improved AI algorithms, and better AI facial reconstructing technologies. These will also help it apply better enhancement filters to improve imaging performance. Furthermore, the software will smartly adapt to the distinct properties of skin tones.
On this note, Oppo states that a number of imaging effects will come from its camera innovation center. It will be especially focusing to suit the Indian skin tone. The facility will also develop and enhance Oppo’s Full Dimension Fusion (FDF) portrait video enhancements algorithms. The lab will work to make videos look artistic without appearing too artificial.
