The consumer electronics company unveiled the Motorola Edge 20 and the Edge 20 Fusion smartphones in India earlier this month. The smartphones have not gone up for sale yet, much to the chagrin of consumers who were restlessly waiting to get their hands on them.
The Motorola Edge 20 was going to hit the store shelves in India on August 24. Likewise, the equally anticipated Motorola Edge 20 Fusion was set to go on sale starting from August 27 in the country. Now, the company has announced that the Motorola Edge 20 model launch date in India has been pushed back. The company did not reveal the exact reason behind its decision to postpone the sale date.
Motorola Edge 20 India Sale Date Deferred
In a new development, the company announced that the impending Motorola Edge 20 sale in India has been postponed for an unspecified period of time. In other words, the device will not go up for sale later this month as Motorola had announced at the Edge 20 series launch event. Regrettably, the company has not shed light on a new sale date either. However, the smartphone maker has confirmed that the Edge 20 will go up for pre-order via Flipkart on August 24.

It is worth mentioning here that the Edge 20 Fusion will go on sale as planned. The Motorola Edge 20 Fusion made its debut alongside the Motorola Edge 20. You will be able to purchase the Motorola Edge 20 Fusion from major retail stores and Flipkart from 12 PM (IST) on August 27. In its statement, Motorola attributed the delayed sale date for Edge 20 to “unforeseen circumstances.” The company assured that it will announce a new sale date soon.
Price, Availability & Specifications
The Motorola Edge 20 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM model will be available for INR 29,999 (about $400). Furthermore, it will come in two eye-catching color options including Frosted Emerald and Frosted Pearl. The Motorola Edge 20 Fusion with 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM will retail for INR 21,499 ($289). The slightly larger 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM model will be available for INR 22,999 (about $309). Aside from that, you can choose between Electric Graphite and Cyber Teal color options.
The Edge 20 smartphone features a 6.7-inch OLED Max Vision display with a Full HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) resolution. The phone comes running on Android 11 OS and has an octa-core Snapdragon 778G SoC under the hood. It will ship with 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM. In the optics department, it features a 108MP main camera, an 8MP secondary sensor, and a 16MP camera with an ultra-wide lens. Upfront, the phone houses a 32MP shooter.
On top of that, the Edge 20 has a 4,000mAh battery that supports Motorola’s 30W TurboPower fast charging. As far as connectivity is concerned, the device offers a USB Type-C port, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth v5.2, Wi-Fi 6, 4G LTE, and 5G.
