Xiaomi Mi 12 to debut in November: MIUI 13 may be absent

Xiaomi Mi 12 series

With the release of Mi MIX 4, everyone’s expectation for the next-generation flagship in Xiaomi’s digital series is the Xiaomi Mi 12 series. This series will probably come with a more comprehensive experience in terms of performance, screen, and camera. Considering Xiaomi’s past practice, this device may arrive in December. Recall that the Xiaomi Mi 11 last year hit the road in December 2020. However, there are reports that this year’s Xiaomi Mi 12 will be quite advance and will debut in November. This flagship is expected to pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC under its hood.

Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra

This is the latest speculation regarding the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 12 series. Furthermore, Lei Jun claims that the next generation MIUI 13 will officially arrive at the end of the year. Currently, the company is intensively adapting the MIUI 12.5 enhanced version. Considering the launch date of the Mi 12 and MIUI 13, it is ideal to think that the latter will launch the former. However, we have a piece of disappointing news. According to mydrivers, Xiaomi Mi 12 may not come with the MIUI 13 system. This means that this flagship smartphone will probably use the  MIUI 12.5 enhanced version.

Gizchina News of the week

Xiaomi Mi 12 may launch the SD898 SoC

According to reports, a large wave of new SM8450 (Snapdragon 898) models has been getting different certifications. Nevertheless, it appears that the Xiaomi Mi 12 will be the first to use this chip.

According to the previous reports, the Snapdragon 898 will use a three-cluster CPU design. In this design, the ultra-large core frequency is 3.09GHz, the large core frequency is 2.4GHz, and the small core frequency is 1.8GHz. The 3.09GHz large core will use a new generation of Cortex-X2. Looking at the design of this chip, its AnTuTu score may exceed one million for the first time.

In addition to major performance upgrades, this device will support at least 120W fast charging. It will also use 100W wireless charging, however, due to a new law in China, the wireless charging capacity will not exceed 50W. In the end, it may not be possible to realize 100W wireless fast charging, but the speed of wired fast charging may increase again.

In addition, the well-received high-quality screens on the Xiaomi Mi 11 will also be further upgraded. The Xiaomi Mi 12 series will come with the LTPO adaptive refresh rate screen. This display can achieve an adaptive refresh rate adjustment function of 1-120Hz. The smartphone can automatically switch the refresh rate to suit the user’s usage scenario. This eventually reduces the power consumption of the device.
