Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has appeared on Geekbench with some key details, suggesting that its launch is just around the corner. Despite taking a long time, Microsoft was able to launch its first-ever Android device in the form of the Microsoft Surface Duo. So, there’s understandably a lot of hype surrounding its successor. As expected, this exciting build-up kicked the rumor mill into high gear.

The upcoming Microsoft Surface Duo successor has been subject to several leaks, speculations, and theories. Earlier this year, a final design prototype of the Surface Duo 2 appeared on the web. The upgraded design included a new camera setup at the back and a glass rear design. Moreover, it was speculated that the device will arrive in White and Black color options with top-notch hardware under the hood. Details about the Surface Duo 2’s launch date have been few and far between.

In the last few weeks, there have been multiple leaks surrounding the Surface Duo 2. Now, the upcoming device has appeared on Geekbench ahead of its official unveiling. The Geekbench benchmark listing gives us a glimpse of the Surface Duo 2’s hardware specifications. Furthermore, the preliminary benchmark listing suggests that the Surface Duo 2 will come with a Snapdragon 888 SoC, and run on the Android 11 OS out of the box, according to a report from Droid.

The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 scored 1071 points in the single-core and 3166 points in the multi-core tests in the Geekbench 5 test. Moreover, the Geekbench listing will pack a Snapdragon 888 SoC, paired with a highly competent Adreno 660 GPU. On top of that, it will come with 8GB of RAM, while running on the latest Android 11 OS. Regrettably, the preliminary benchmark test does not shed light on other details such as the display, sensors, cameras, and more.

However, a previously surfaced leak has hinted at a triple camera setup. The device will house a triple camera setup featuring a standard lens, ultrawide angle, and a telephoto lens at the back. Aside from that, Microsoft could include an optimized launcher in the Surface Duo 2, without drastically changing its design. Although it may retain its predecessor’s design, the Surface Duo 2 is likely to offer enhanced performance. It could also support 5G and NFC.

The tech giant has kept launch details of the Surface Duo 2 under wraps. However, Microsoft could launch the device sometime in October or September this year. Moreover, the device’s appearance on the benchmark suggests that more details are likely to surface online soon.
