Popular Indian telecom operator Reliance Jio will be launching its new budget 4G smartphone by the name of JioPhone Next in the country, with the device made in collaboration with Google.
A couple of days ago, we learnt that the device will be available for pre-orders starting this week, but, as of now, we have no updates in relation to this. A TV news channel today seems to have details in relation to the price of the JioPhone Next.
As per Economic Times (via 91Mobiles), ET Now, a business and finance news channel, the pricing and offers related to the JioPhone Next are available with them, as they reported the same on August 30 citing certain sources.
What Does the Report State?
The JioPhone next will be available in Basic and Advanced variants, which will cost Rs 5,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively, which translates to USD 68 and USD 96, respectively. 90% of this will be covered by partners, while users will have to pay only 10% at the time of purchasing the device.
Jio has partnered with five different banks which are IDFC First Assure, State Bank of India, Piramal Capital and DMI Finance for the financing of the sales with all of them given assured sales of Rs 10,000 crore.
Gizchina News of the week
This is not all, since the report also says that Jio is assuring Rs 2,500 crore credit support for four different Non-Banking Financial companies or NBFCs.
Furthermore, Reliance Jio is supposedly trying to sell a rather shocking 50 million units of the new JioPhone Next in a span of six months, with the telco already having set targets with its financiers and distributors for matters related to sales.
UTL Neolyncs, a joint venture between two companies, namely UTL Group and Neolync solutions is making this new phone with availability starting September 10.
JioPhone Next: Expected Features
At Jio’s earlier AGM meeting, it did not reveal the specifications of the JioPhone Next, with the only bit of information revealing being that users will get certain features for sure, which we will discuss later.
Leaks and rumours doing rounds suggest that the device could ship Android 11 (Go Edition) out of the box and could make use of a rather compact 5.5-inch display with a resolution of HD+.
The device may also use the Qualcomm QM215 System-on-chip, according to other such leaks. JioPhone Next will come in two variants, with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of eMMC 4.5 storage.
